Promotion of Arts and Heritage (2024)

Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University encourages local arts and heritage by organizing public performances, workshops, cultural festivals, and exhibitions. These activities foster understanding, appreciation, and preservation of local culture, traditions, and creative talents.

1. Academic Seminar and Practical Workshop on Long “Tid Thap” Drum Beating

Date: April 5 & 13, 2024
Venue: Wat Thepnimit, Tha Ngiew Subdistrict, Mueang District
Target Group: 100 participants

This workshop aimed to preserve and transmit the fine arts, culture, and local wisdom of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, allowing local youth to learn and appreciate the value of local traditions.

2. Cultural Arts Camp and Artist Heir Training

Date: June 30 & July 7, 2024
Venue: Center for Arts and Culture, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University
Target Group: 60 participants

The camp focused on preserving and promoting local history, arts, traditions, and customs among children and youth.

4. Cultural Market at Na Khao Mahachai

Date: February 12–13, 2024

This market featured cultural performances (Hom Rong, shadow puppet theater, Nora dance, contemporary dance), traditional foods, and local products. Open to the public free of charge, it fostered cultural exchange and supported local entrepreneurs.

5. Revival of “Khunmak Phra Pathom” Tradition

Date: July 12–14, 2024
Activities: Hands-on workshop for local youth on Khanmak arrangement and the Grand Procession Offering Ceremony (“Hae Khan Mak Phra Pathom”).

This event revived local wedding traditions, engaged more than 500 participants, and promoted community cultural awareness.

6. Cultural Management Exhibition: Nang Talung (Shadow Puppet)

Date: August 26–30, 2024
Venue: Thailand Research Expo 2024, Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre

The university presented research on shadow puppet theatre to the public, with over 1,000 participants attending lectures and performances.

7. Thatchaphum: Kai Kho A Lae (Chicken Festival)

Date: August 27–29, 2024
Venue: Central Mosque of Nakhon Si Thammarat

The festival promoted local cuisine and cultural heritage, with competitions, food tasting, cultural markets, and lectures on halal practices.

8. Nakhon Craft Soft Power Festival 2024

Date: August 10, 2024
Venue: Si Thammosokarat Park, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Showcased shadow puppetry, Manorah dance, Phleng Bok folk songs, brocade fashion shows, and handicrafts, engaging both public and private sectors.

9. Yok Khanmak Phra Pathom

Date: December 14–15, 2024
Venue: Wat Thai Samphao, Phra Phrom District

The event revived the Phra Pathom Khan Mak procession and included lectures, seminars, panel discussions, and cultural performances by students and community members.

Through these activities, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University actively promotes local arts and heritage, engages the public in cultural experiences, and fosters appreciation, pride, and continuity of regional traditions.
