SDG 11

Promoting Sustainable Commuting at Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (2024)

The university undertakes actions to encourage environmentally responsible commuting, supporting energy conservation, pollution reduction, and equitable access for all members of the campus community.

Sustainable Mobility Strategy

Universities, operating as educational and societal learning centers, play a key role in modeling environmentally responsible living. The core strategy, “Sustainable Mobility”, aims to reduce reliance on private cars and promote walking, cycling, public transportation, or clean-energy vehicles. The goal is a transport system that eliminates pollution, conserves energy, and enhances well-being for everyone on campus.

Electric Shuttle Service

The university provides a 14-seat electric shuttle with designated waiting areas to serve students, personnel, and the general public. This system supports clean-energy commuting within campus grounds and reduces the carbon footprint of internal transportation. Watch the Electric Mass Transit System here.

Infrastructure Improvements

Covered walkways have been upgraded to encourage walking. Accessibility ramps have been installed to ensure equitable access for persons with disabilities, older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with mobility challenges. These enhancements reflect the university’s commitment to Universal Design, prioritizing safety, convenience, and dignity for all users.

Through these measures, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University fosters sustainable commuting, reduces environmental impacts, and promotes inclusivity within campus transportation.
