Environmental Policy and Preventive Measures
Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU) has adopted a comprehensive environmental policy aimed at conserving natural resources and preventing pollution. This includes a series of initiatives to minimize water contamination and enhance water-use efficiency across the campus.
- Reducing water consumption through awareness and conservation campaigns

The university also participates in the Green Campus (Green University) ranking program, integrating sustainability principles into teaching, research, and campus operations to ensure long-term pollution prevention.
Research and Water Quality Monitoring
The Environmental Science Program actively encourages students to conduct annual water quality monitoring research. Samples are collected from both wastewater sources and natural water bodies within the campus, and the results are compared against national wastewater quality standards.
📊 Research Findings (Academic Year 2024)
The study revealed that most water samples exceeded wastewater quality standards, particularly in the dormitory areas, due to high Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) resulting from heavy water use. In other areas, BOD levels were only slightly above the standard, likely due to faster water flow, higher oxygenation, and the presence of aquatic plants that help absorb pollutants.
The research outcomes provide valuable baseline data for improving campus wastewater systems. Currently, the university is constructing and implementing an internal wastewater treatment system to address these quality challenges and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
