Research on Drinking Water Quality
Students from the Environmental Science Program, Faculty of Science and Technology conducted a research project titled “Assessment of Drinking Water Quality from Service Points within Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University.” The study aimed to evaluate the physical, chemical, and microbiological quality of drinking water based on national drinking water standards.
🧪 Research Highlights (2024)
Water samples were collected from 11 drinking water stations over three months and tested for 10 parameters: Temperature, Turbidity, Hardness, TDS, Iron, Chloride, pH, Coliform, Fecal Coliform, and E. coli.
Results indicated that physical quality met the standard across all sites. Chemical quality was within acceptable limits, except for slightly low pH in a few locations. For microbiological quality, four stations consistently met the standard:
- Sriprai Dormitory (Dorm A)
- Khwansuda Dormitory (Dorm Z)
- Panarom Dormitory (Dorm M)
- NSTRU Demonstration School
Two stations—New Cafeteria (Machine No. 2) and Central Library (2nd Floor)—did not meet microbiological standards during the study.
Following the report, the university administration promptly implemented system improvements. All drinking water sources have now been upgraded and maintained to fully comply with national drinking water safety and quality standards.
💧 Aligned with SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Through its free drinking water initiative and scientific monitoring, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University ensures safe, accessible, and equitable drinking water for the entire campus community, advancing the Sustainable Development Goals for clean water access.
