Mental Health Support for Staff (Year 2024)

Promoting happiness, unity, and well-being for university personnel

Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU) recognizes the value of supporting the mental health and well-being of its personnel, including both academic and support staff. The institution fosters initiatives that promote happiness, unity, cooperation, and transparency while strengthening organizational commitment and good governance at every level—university, faculty, and unit—to cultivate a sense of shared ownership and belonging.

One highlight of the year was the 67th Anniversary Celebration held on January 9, 2024, which brought together over 1,000 participants. The celebration featured the “Fire Offering Ceremony”, a cherished local winter tradition in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province where faculty, administrators, students, and local residents gather on campus between 4:00–7:00 a.m. to light a bonfire and prepare traditional foods and desserts—such as Khanom Krok, Khanom Buang, and Khao Kriap Pak Mo—to offer to monks. The event embodies community spirit, compassion, and mindfulness, promoting emotional connection and gratitude.

Another major event is Rajabhat Day, observed annually on February 14, meaning “People of the King, Servants of the Land.” The event gathers over 3,000 participants and features ceremonies, cultural performances, and team-building activities that reinforce pride and unity among staff and students. Additionally, during the Thai New Year (Songkran), faculties organize merit-making and water-pouring rituals, strengthening respect and bonds between colleagues.

The university also provides annual health check-ups in collaboration with Maharaj Hospital, ensuring that both physical and mental health are cared for. Recognition programs celebrate staff who achieve new academic ranks, promotions, or receive awards for outstanding performance and innovation—boosting morale and self-esteem.

To sustain emotional connection, obituaries for faculty, staff, and their family members are shared through the official LINE corporate communication channel as a way to express solidarity and compassion. The joint worship of Phra Buddha Sihing, a sacred ceremony marking the start of work each year, brings faculty and staff together in mindfulness and peace.

Volunteer programs are regularly held to promote civic engagement, empathy, and teamwork. Annual events such as the “Mahachai Strengthens Relations – New Year’s Party” and Sports Day create joyful and inclusive spaces that relieve stress, foster mutual support, and contribute to the holistic well-being of all personnel.

💚 Aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

NSTRU’s initiatives demonstrate a deep commitment to mental health support, emotional well-being, and organizational happiness, ensuring that staff thrive personally and professionally within a positive and compassionate community.
