Mental Health Support for Students (Year 2024)
Building emotional resilience and holistic well-being for NSTRU students
Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU) places strong emphasis on cultivating students who embody the four qualities prescribed under the Royal Educational Policy. Implementation occurs through key initiatives on and off campus, including faculty-led programs, the “New Student Relations, NSTRU Chonakbutr 2024–2025” event, and the Faculty of Science and Technology’s “Good Seedlings Camp” for first-year students, aimed at developing ethical, high-caliber future teachers.
Students also participate in volunteer service projects and resilience training to strengthen mental well-being. The Faculty of Education has conducted a project to enhance student teachers’ competencies in line with professional standards. Outstanding students are recognized at University Council meetings and through activities under the “To Be Number One” initiative.
Collaboration with 38 Rajabhat Universities nationwide includes the Rajabhat University Student Union of Thailand seminar, the “Create and Promote Happiness” project, “Rajabhat Universities toward a Healthy Society”, and the “Happy New Gen U” campaign. Notably, Mr. Nantawat Phum-iam from NSTRU was awarded first runner-up, marking an important milestone toward building a healthy, happiness-oriented campus culture.
The TO BE NUMBER ONE Friendship Center Leader Training engages 50 student leaders to enhance understanding of the center’s operations, focusing on guidance, peer counseling, and emotional resilience. The same group also leads TO BE NUMBER ONE Friendship Center Activities in collaboration with the Division of Student Development, offering counseling services, emotional intelligence (EQ) enhancement, and a supportive, joyful campus environment.
Activities include singing, performing arts, B-boy dancing, music, sports, and other recreational events designed to create a safe, welcoming space for self-expression and healthy stress relief.
Students from the NSTRU Culinary Arts Program achieved recognition by winning three national innovation awards at the Southern Innovation Fair 2025. Ms. Arisa Kamsib received the Gold Medal for innovation in public health, health, and medical technology for developing “Calseason” — a calcium-fortified, reduced-sodium seasoning powder.
These combined activities strengthen graduates’ attributes, including: 1) positive and correct attitudes; 2) a solid foundation in life; 3) career readiness; and 4) moral citizenship — all essential to becoming responsible contributors to society.
The university also promotes international collaboration, with plans to send students to China for professional training to enhance global competitiveness. As part of the Faculty of Nursing establishment project, NSTRU has implemented preventive measures for mental health problems, including baseline mental health assessments for all students to identify those at risk and provide continued support.
💚 Aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
This program demonstrates NSTRU’s commitment to mental health promotion, emotional resilience, and inclusive well-being, creating a healthy, balanced campus life that supports academic success and personal growth.
