Through International Collaboration and Research: Advancing Global Best Practices on SDGs

Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University has a mission to promote academic and research collaboration at the international level in order to develop knowledge and establish best practices for systematically and sustainably advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The University has taken a proactive approach through research collaboration, student and faculty exchanges, as well as the organization of international academic conferences, which serve as important platforms for knowledge exchange and comparative learning on development approaches at the global level.

The University has continuously participated in international academic conferences. In 2024, it took part in the 18th International Conference on Multi-functional Materials and Applications (ICMMA 2024) held in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The conference was attended by researchers from 13 countries around the world, including China, South Korea, France, Spain, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Japan, Vietnam, India, Taiwan, Pakistan, and Thailand with a total of 183 research papers presented and over 220 participants. This conference served as an important platform for the exchanging of knowledge, innovations, and new technologies related to sustainability, as well as a key process for reviewing and comparing international approaches to SDGs implementation. The outcomes contributed to the synthesis of best practices suitable for the context of Thailand and the ASEAN region.

The University has also carried out research and development collaborations with leading international universities, such as:

  • Hanseo University, Republic of Korea – Development of knowledge in materials science for sustainability (Sustainable Materials for Energy Storage) and research training programs.
  • Chengdu University, People’s Republic of China – Collaboration in four key areas: research on cultural capital and the Southern Economic Corridor, exchange programs, establishment of the Chengdu–NSTRU Collaboration Center, and overseas internships.
  • National Chung Cheng University (CCU), Taiwan & University of Malaya, Malaysia – Enhancement of research quality and researcher capacity to reach international standards.

These collaborations have not only served as platforms for academic exchange but have also contributed to the establishment of an International Research Network. This network provides opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students to learn from diverse sustainable development approaches across countries, to compare successful implementation models in various contexts, and to adapt them into practical and context-appropriate best practices for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Thailand.

In addition, the university invited Prof. Dr. Won Chun Oh from Hanseo University to deliver lectures on “Sustainable Materials for Energy Storage” and “How to Write a Manuscript”. These sessions aimed to enhance the research capacity and knowledge development of faculty members and students, forming a vital foundation for innovation creation and the development of best practices in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

All of these initiatives reflect the proactive role of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University in fostering international collaboration to exchange knowledge and develop best practices for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The University’s efforts encompass multiple dimensions, including research, teaching and learning, faculty and student exchange, and the establishment of sustainable academic networks at the international level.
