Relationships with regional NGOs and government for SDG policy | Year: 2024

Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University has joined efforts to develop policies and mechanisms supporting women’s well-being at the national level, in collaboration with the Thanyarak Breast Center under the Royal Patronage of Her Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, which operates as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

(Facebook page) The foundation aims to conduct awareness campaigns, disseminate information and knowledge, and provide preliminary screening and diagnostic services to ensure that Thai women have equitable access to treatment and self-care for breast cancer prevention.

The university has conducted campaigns to promote health, prevention, and care for female cancer patients in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province under the project “Continuing the Princess Mother’s Initiative to Fight Breast Cancer” and has participated in this initiative from 2023 to the present under the name of the Thanyarak Club.

Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University has 352 members in the Thanyarak Club. The operations are carried out through a health advisor system comprising lecturers in public health and nursing, as well as public health professionals. The university has developed 65 student health leaders (View activity) to conduct campaigns that provide knowledge and teach skills to at-risk groups and the general public.

The project extends to community areas within the primary healthcare units, especially Sub-district Health Promoting Hospitals in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. It has been integrated into academic courses, particularly field training in health sciences, combining classroom learning with health screening activities for early detection of breast cancer in communities.

The implementation results include the production of online education media and community outreach activities across Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Among 2,163 women participating, 94 cases (4.35%) were found to have abnormal breast symptoms, who then received guidance for further treatment.

The University received the 1st Runner-up National Award in the project competition “Carrying Forward and Extending the Mission to Conquer Breast Cancer” (View post).
