SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
University Measures Towards Affordable and Clean Energy — Year: 2024
The Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU) recognizes the critical importance of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through the renovation and construction of energy-efficient buildings. The university has established key measures focusing on retrofitting and improving existing buildings to enhance sustainability and efficiency.
⚙️ Energy Efficiency Measures
- Replace outdated equipment with energy-efficient models.
- Switch all light bulbs to LED.
- Upgrade air conditioners to Inverter or Label No. 5 models.
- Install thermal insulation for roofs and walls.
- Implement Smart Building Systems — control electricity, temperature, and air conditioning using sensors, timers, and motion detectors.
- Upgrade window systems using Low-E or infrared-filtering glass and install light-filtering films or curtains to reduce solar heat gain.
- Install renewable energy systems, such as rooftop solar panels.
🏗️ Examples of University Projects
- Building 26 Improvement Project: Upgraded to LED lighting systems and energy-efficient electrical appliances to promote responsible and efficient energy use.
- Office of Academic Promotion and Registration Construction: Designed to create an open and transparent environment providing comfort, energy efficiency, and convenient service accessibility.
- Genius Center Construction Project: Maximizes the utility of available space, emphasizing economical energy consumption while incorporating advanced technology.
- Solar Power Installation Project (Building 15 – Library): Installed rooftop solar power systems to supply renewable energy and reduce reliance on conventional electricity sources.
These initiatives highlight NSTRU’s dedication to improving energy performance and sustainability through both technological innovation and responsible building design. They contribute directly to Thailand’s national goals for sustainable energy transition.
💡 Supporting SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Through building retrofits, smart energy systems, and solar initiatives, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University promotes sustainable energy management, ensuring accessibility, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in alignment with SDG 7.
