The university has consistently executed plant genetic conservation initiatives. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn established the Plant Genetic Conservation Project to promote comprehension and awareness of the significance of diverse resources in Thailand. The project has initiated efforts to promote collaborative thinking and practices that benefit the Thai populace, as well as to create a resource information system for extensive national dissemination. The initiative encompasses activities aimed at safeguarding resources in natural forest regions, surveying and collecting resources at risk of extinction due to environmental changes, relocating collected resources to cultivate and preserve them in suitable and secure areas, conserving and utilizing resources, researching and assessing resources to understand the components, properties, and applications of plants, and developing a computer-based resource information system.
