SDG 11.4.8 Planning development – new build standards

Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University’s Master Plan 2023-2028 emphasizes sustainable building development through its Green Campus initiative, incorporating nine key principles for new construction standards. The plan prioritizes eco-friendly architecture with specific focus on sustainable building design, energy conservation, and environmental integration. New facilities must adhere to Green Architecture guidelines, featuring smart classroom technology, improved laboratory facilities, and sustainable infrastructure systems. The master plan implements strategic zoning for optimal space utilization across six designated areas: administrative offices, educational services, student accommodation, staff housing, convention and recreation centers, and sustainable business zones. Key infrastructure developments include modernizing water management systems with a 5,800 m3 reservoir capacity, implementing electric shuttle services, and creating interconnected pedestrian walkways. All new constructions must align with the university’s commitment to becoming a Smart University while meeting international sustainability standards and supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in environmental stewardship and resource efficiency.
